I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.
It’s not clear whether this decision will delay the Van Halen reunion tour scheduled for this summer, or if the move to get clean is designed to make the tour possible in the first place. All I know is that sobriety is not what I would be looking for with David Lee Roth jumping around like a coked-up chimp—and that’s just at press conferences.
