Dr. Addison Shepherd, upon hearing the news of her Grey’s Anatomy spinoffWe’ve already covered the 10 worst spinoffs in TV history, and while the new Gray’s Anatomy spinoff (tentatively called “Private Practice”) might not make that list, I can pretty much guarantee a nose dive with a half twist and an awkward flop for a 9.5.
Seriously, get a load of the premise for the show:
Kate Walsh stars as [Dr. Addison] Shepherd, who leaves behind Seattle Grace Hospital and her ex, Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd, for a fresh start in Los Angeles. She reconnects with a friend whose medical practice needs an obstetrician, and with the friend’s former husband and business partner.
In the third episode, Addison loses a baby in the OR after major complications, but afterwards, she’s able to talk it out with a colleague over chai lattes in the hospital Starbucks. Later in the coversation, though, she gets misty-eyed while reminiscing about the days when McDreamy and McSteamy would run train on her as the Seattle rain played a sultry symphony on the tin roof overhead.
