Sanjaya Malakar of American Idol is no Frankie AvalonPoor Sanjaya Malakar still can’t accept the truth—that his extended reign on American Idol was all a cruel joke orchestrated by shock jock Howard Stern. If you haven’t heard, Stern urged his legions of loyal listeners to vote for Sanjaya as a way to screw AI by promoting the least-talented performer on the show.
Sanjaya is not buying it, however, as he demonstrates in a video from the Ellen show.
Malakar tells Ellen DeGeneres he doesn’t believe that Stern’s fans and other “haters” voted enough “to make a dent in the system.” While confident, and perhaps delusional, Sanjaya feels it was his own large fan base that kept the straining singer around for so long.
So Sanjaya disses the Stern effect and basically says the American public has become more ridiculously stupid than ever before. That may actually be true, but it’s not cool to bring it up like that on television. Come on now, what will the terrorists think?
