Scott Stapp of Creed got arrested for assault.Former Creed front man Scott Stapp was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony after being arrested Sunday at his home. He later was released without having to post a bond and the charge was reduced to a second-degree misdemeanor count. Why?
Circuit Judge Cory Ciklin reduced the charge “because the allegation is that Stapp threw a bottle of Orangina at his wife, at her head, and missed and the bottle broke,” sheriff’s spokesman Paul Miller said.
“Based on the circumstances, the defense attorney argued that was not a deadly weapon,” Miller said.
This is sound legal reasoning—Orangina is too tasty and refreshing to be a deadly weapon. Now, if it were a bottle of beet juice, or castor oil, or a vodka bottle encrusted with Lindsay Lohan’s viral drool… that would be a deadly weapon.
